Help In Achord get to SoJam!

Dear Friends, family, alumnus, and to whom it may concern:

In Achord has been granted an amazing opportunity. 

We have been chosen as one of 5 groups in the entire COUNTRY to compete in the 2016 SoJam A cappella competition hosted by the Contemporary A cappella Society! During the weekend of November 18th-20th, In Achord will be traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in this 2 day intensive competition, and take part in the amazing masterclasses and workshops provided there. 

A blurb on the SoJam event page reads: "SoJam is a weekend-long a cappella extravaganza brought to you by The Contemporary A Cappella Society (CASA). Now in its 14th year, the festival is jam-packed with Concerts, Competitions, Master Classes and hands-on workshops led by some of the biggest names in the vocal music universe! SoJam has established itself as one of the most exciting a cappella gatherings in the world. We invite you to come see and hear for yourself – you just may change your life."

"In SoJam’s 14th year, we’re reaching out to the most talented people we know in a cappella and challenging them to help shape a festival better than any in our history — all in an unforgettable interactive format designed to challenge, educate, and inspire." 

We are THE MOST excited about what this opportunity could mean for us. 

Of course, with opportunities come logistics, and with logistics usually come costs. 

It is going to cost In Achord aproximately $4,500 to attend this competition. 

We have to buy plane tickets to and from Atlanta, and housing, transportation etc. while there. As we all know, airfare is expensive. In order to avoid paying hundreds of dollars (each) out of pocket, (which truthfully, we cannot afford to do on our own,) we are reaching out to all of you and asking for some help. Any amount that you can donate will take immense burden off of our members. We are attending this competition and are planning on having the time of our lives, but without some support, we will be in a serious financial crunch. 

Thank you so, so much for all of your continuous support. It does NOT go unnoticed! It is with your moral, emotional, physical, (and yes, monetary,) support that we have been able to participate in so many of the things that have brought our group to the high-performing level we are at now. With your help we have recorded music, won an ICCA quarterfinal, were cheered on as we sang the national anthem at the Sox-Braves game, celebrated our alumni at our 25th anniversary concert... and that was just in 2016!

Traveling to Georgia is the next big step for our group. We have never participated in this competition before, and it is going to stretch our musical and creative capacities even farther than we thought possible. This is a big risk for our group... we are investing a lot of time, money, and energy into this competition, but that's because we know it's worth it. Competing with a group is one of the best experiences a college student can have, and we are so excited to have that experience again, and to share that involvement with our new members!

We all love In Achord with everything we have, and we are so lucky to have people around us that feel the same way, and want us to succeed. We are about to take a journey, and we invite you to come on that journey with us. We thank you and we love you all!
