What is BUIAA?

The Boston University International Affairs Association (BUIAA) is an academic society focused on bringing a global perspective to the social sciences. We encourage and promote diplomacy, dialogue, and the understanding different cultures. As one of the largest and most active student groups on campus, we provide our members with unparalleled opportunities to share their passion for global affairs, on campus and internationally. BUIAA runs 6 different unique programs.

What is Model United Nations (Model UN)

Model United Nations is a specialized form of debate where students simulate various governmental organizations to write policy papers from a myriad of diverse viewpoints through collaboration and negotiation while seeking to be true to one's assigned position. Conferences are held throughout the world, generally lasting 4 days with awards given at the end. Awards are based off of students' ability to public speak, write, negotiate, and think critically. Therefore our weekly trainings focus on developing these skills through targeted exercises. 

What is UCBMUN?

UCBMUN is an international conference that brings together hundreds of university students from across the world. At a minimum, the conference connects students with various backgrounds and experience with one another and builds a networking base that extends beyond the United States. But the very nature of Model United Nations allows for so much more than that. Model United Nations brings these students together and provides a forum for them to debate, collaborate, and author policy papers together in a fast-paced, complex environment. In order to work with one another and put forth a substantive solution to the issues being presented, delegates are forced to recognize the differences in their working behavior and alter the way they typically approach situations in order to form a collaborative working environment.

Why should you donate? 

BUIAA is the largest non-greek student group on campus. Our Model United Nations team competes all over the world. This year we are trying to add a new conference to our roster and in order to make it happen we need your support. Model UN has allowed each and everyone of us to grow personally and professionally, making us more informed citizens and more well-rounded individuals. The funds raised would go towards covering the cost of airfare, registration fees, and lodging. Overall, attending UCBMUN would allow our team to compete in a new arena, which would test and expand our skills. Help us make that goal a reality, by donating to our campaign!
