The BU Sweethearts First Holiday EP!

The Sweethearts want to be heard!

The Sweethearts is a collegiate a cappella group of 10 members, founded in 2002 at Boston University. We’re creating a professionally recorded, edited, mixed, and mastered Holiday EP to showcase all that we’re capable of, and we need your help to get it done.

History

Founded in 2002, The Sweethearts is an all-female cappella group from Boston University. We are a dynamic group of talented women who share a passion for singing, and our unique arrangements take Boston University’s a cappella scene to a higher level. This past year, we recorded our very first full-length studio album, Sforzando – but we don’t want to just stop there! We’re ready to create more content!

The Sweethearts is a particularly impressive group because of the incredible and diverse individuals from which it is formed. All the women are involved in other activities in addition to a cappella – dance groups, sororities, work in the Community Service Center, cultural groups, and more – on top of various backgrounds and areas of study, like pre-law, behavioral health sciences, public relations, and business. The Sweethearts brings us all together to do what we love.

We perform regularly on campus at Boston University and within the Greater Boston area during our semester and holiday concerts. This Project

We want to be able to show off how much our group has grown with another EP. As with Sforzando, this EP will be professionally recorded, edited, and mixed by The Vocal Company, a production company specializing in a cappella. The tracks will then be mastered by Vocal Mastering.

Above all, The Sweethearts love performing and making music together. This EP will allow us to share that part of who we are with you, our fans and supporters! After countless hours of arranging, rehearsing, and preparing, we’ll hit the recording booth, with each group member recording one at a time, to ensure every member gives the best performance possible!

Recording individually allows the best possible product, but also takes time. We’re working to ensure every song is as good as it can be, and this takes time and money. This is where you come in! We need your help to help us take this next step. We are so excited to complete this project and share our music with you!

• $5,670 Recording, Editing, and Mixing with The Vocal Company, and Mastering with Vocal Mastering

• $450 Additional Expenses (arrangement edits, travel, etc.)

Risks and challenges

The biggest risk with a project like this is staying healthy, so when the time comes to record, we’re in good voice. But rest assured, we’re taking care of ourselves and staying hydrated.

Outside of that, obviously funding this project is a huge concern. We hope we have shown how much we respect your contribution and appreciate your support. Also, we take this very seriously. We understand you’re donating to our cause, and we hope we’ve assured you that we have planned out all of the costs, and that your money will go to good use!
