EWH trip to Lima, Peru -- Update on Day 1

June 01, 2017

Hi Everyone,

We wanted to give you a quick insight into our Day 1 in Lima Peru. We were a group of 6 biomedical engineers who thoroughly enjoyed and learnt from our experience.

Firstly, We got the opportunity to interact with the biomedical engineering students at PUCP University. Professor Voigt, advisor of EWH was able to give insight more about our organization at Boston University. The members of EWH interacted with the students to tell them about their  engineering experience and how they intend to use their skills to help developing countries.

Next, we had the opportunity to meet Dr. Cabezas, Director of National Institte of Health (NIH) in Lima, Peru. He gave us insights on one of our projects which we will be working on: Mosquito Prevention in the Peru.

Again, Thank you for your generous contribution to our successful trip to Lima, Peru.

Best,

Engineering World Health -- Boston University Chapter

Trip Booked!!!

March 21, 2017

Hi all - Sorry for the delay in updating. We had to postpone our trip to Peru because the prices for flights rose to over $1400 each when we finally had the money to purchase our tickets. We waited and they came down considerably. :~)

We were able to get tickets for the seven of us for under $430 each!!!

We are now scheduled to arrive in Lima on May 24th and stay for a week. Our colleagues in Lima are excited about our visit and are sending us some reading material. They are also arranging for us to meet officials in the Peruvian NIH, Ministry of Health, the Maternity Hospital and faculty at PUCP and UPCH. In addition, we will be working with Peruvian professionals in the health care sector.

We are very thankful to the Boston University Biomedical Engineering department to provide a substantial donation to our campaign, which they elected to do outside of this Crowdfunding effort. Thank you!
